Government / Economics Extra Credit
Below you will find a variety of options for extra credit. For this extra credit to take affect you must do TWO items on the list before DECEMBER 17TH !! (First Semester) and MAY 31ST!! (Second Semester)
(Anything turned in after December 17th or May 31ST will not be counted, no exceptions!)
When you have completed two of the options listed below I will remove your lowest test grade and replace it with a 100%. Pretty Sweet deal! All you have to do it turn in to me a ticket stub or some other identifying marker that you completed one of the options.

Before turning it in do the following:
1. Have your parent or guardian sign what you will be turning in
2. You sign the item as well and include the date
Options for Extra Credit:

2. Go to the Nixon Library http://www.nixonlibrary.gov
(Good idea to buy tickets ahead of time for both establishments)
3. Vote in the Mid-Term Election (Must be 18)
4. Watch the HBO Documentary on John McCain For Whom The Bell Tolls. Write a 2-3 paragraph response about what you watched, what stood out to you and what you learned from this film.
5. Watch the Film He Named Me Malala. An American documentary film directed by Davis Guggenheim. The film is about the young Pakistani female activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai, who was targeted by Taliban gunmen, shot in the head and left wounded. She was targeted for speaking for the girls' education in her region of Swat Valley in Pakistan. Write a 2-3 paragraph response about what you watched, what stood out to you and what you learned from this film
6. Watch 13th documentary on Netflix. An in-depth look at the prison system in the United States and how it reveals the nation's history of racial inequality. Write a 2-3 paragraph response about what you watched, what stood out to you and what you learned from this film
7. Watch the film The Post: A cover-up that spanned four U.S. Presidents pushed the country's first female newspaper publisher and a hard-driving editor to join an unprecedented battle between the press and the government. Write a 2-3 paragraph response about what you watched, what stood out to you and what you learned from this film
8. Watch the film RBG: A look at the career of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg that spanned many decades, and how she developed a legal legacy while becoming prominent within pop culture. The film presents a biographical depiction of the Supreme Court Justice from her birth in Brooklyn, New York through her rise to the Supreme Court up to the year of the film's distribution in 2018
9. Volunteer at an organization that relates to your final civic engagement project.
10. Economic System Collage- Choose one of the following types of Economic Systems: Free Market, Command (Centrally Planned), and create a poster that visually and verbally represents different aspects of the system. The poster needs to have 10 or more pictures (from magazines, internet, etc) that visually portray the concepts that characterize the economic system. Also, you need to have 3 or more attached typed paragraphs describing the system. The poster must include the following information: general description of the economic system; who owns factors of production; competition level; economic strengths and weaknesses; specific examples; government role; consumer role. Be as detailed as possible with the info.
11. Watch the Film ERON: THE SMARTEST GUYS IN THE ROOM. Once you have watched the Film Write at least a 1-page response relating your thoughts and feelings about our Financial System after viewing this documentary.
12. Watch the Film INSIDE JOB (2010). This Documentary was released in 2010, and won the Oscar that year for Best Documentary Film. The film is described as being about "the systemic corruption of the United States by the financial services industry and the consequences of that systemic corruption.” Once you have watched the Film Write at least a 1 page response relating your thoughts and feelings about our Financial System after viewing this documentary.
